Microsoft® J# Browser Controls v1.1 ReadMe


This document contains notes for installing Microsoft J# Browser Controls v1.1.

J# Browser Controls v1.1 provides the support required to migrate Java applets to the .NET Framework. This product has been independently developed by Microsoft, and is not endorsed or approved by Sun Microsystems, Inc. Applications written to target J# Browser Controls v1.1 will only run on computers that have the Microsoft .NET Framework Redistributable Package v1.1 installed.

2 System Requirements
To install J# Browser Controls v1.1, the Microsoft .NET Framework Redistributable Package v1.1 must be installed on the computer. The setup for J# Browser Controls checks for the .NET Framework Redistributable Package v1.1 on your computer.

3 Installing J# Browser Controls v1.1
To uninstall previous versions
If you installed the Technology Preview or Beta release of J# Browser Controls v1.1, you must uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel.

To install the J# Browser Controls v1.1
1. Download the J# Browser Controls v1.1 setup program (JBC.exe) to your computer from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vjsharp/browsercontrols/.
2. Close all open applications.
3. Run JBC.exe.

To install with Systems Management Server (SMS) or Group Policy
J# Browser Controls v1.1 supports installation using SMS or Group Policy. For more information on deploying J# Browser Controls v1.1 using SMS or Group Policy, see the respective product documentation.
3.1 Uninstalling J# Browser Controls v1.1
To uninstall J# Browser Controls v1.1, use Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel and choose Microsoft J# Browser Controls v1.1.

5 Providing Feedback
Please report all bugs you find in J# Browser Controls v1.1; all bug reports are valuable to Microsoft. Microsoft created the newsgroup microsoft.public.dotnet.vjsharp to receive your feedback.
To view the newsgroup, add a new server to your news reader. If you are using Microsoft Outlook Express, you can have multiple servers listed in the left pane.

To add a news server in Outlook Express
1. Launch Outlook Express.
2. From top navigation bar, select Tools, then Accounts.
3. Select the Add button. Click News, and then follow the instructions in the Internet Connection Wizard.
4. Enter your name and e-mail address when prompted and choose Next after each entry.
5. On the Internet News Server Name Page, enter news.microsoft.com
6. Make sure that the checkbox My news server requires me to log on is unselected. Click Next.
7. Then click Finish.
8. Select Close and begin downloading your newsgroup(s). The newsgroup is called microsoft.public.dotnet.vjsharp

Note If you are using the Internet in a corporate environment behind a firewall, refer to your IT resources for server configuration with a proxy.
